Surah Al-Bayyinah English Translation
( The Clear Evidence )
In the Name of Allâh, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
1. Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture and Al- Mushrikûn, were not going to leave ( their disbelief ) until there came to them clear evidence.
2. A Messenger ( Muhammad (PBUH) ) from Allâh, reciting ( the Qur’ân ) purified pages [ purified from Al- Bâtil ( falsehood ) ].
3. Wherein are correct and straight laws from Allâh.
4. And the people of the Scripture differed not until after there came to them clear evidence ( i.e. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and whatever was revealed to him ) .
5. And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allâh, and worship none but Him Alone ( abstaining from ascribing partners to Him ), and perform As- Salât ( Iqâmat- as- Salât ) and give Zakât, and that is the right religion.
6. Verily, those who disbelieve ( in the religion of Islâm, the Qur’ân, and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)) from among the people of the Scripture and Al- Mushrikûn will abide in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of creatures.
7. Verily, those who believe [ in the Oneness of Allâh, and in His Messenger Muhammad (PBUH) ) including all obligations ordered by Islâm ] and do righteous good deeds, they are the best of creatures.
8. Their reward with their Lord is ‘Adn ( Eden ) Paradise ( Gardens of Eternity ), underneath which rivers flow. They will abide therein forever, Allâh will be pleased with them, and they with Him. That is for him who fears his Lord.
Surah Al-Bayyinah: A Look at Clear Evidence
Imagine a powerful message being delivered, yet people still disagree. That’s the scene Surah Al-Bayyinah paints. This chapter of the Quran, meaning “The Clear Proof,” dives into the idea of having clear evidence for faith and what happens when you accept or reject it.
The Importance of Seeing Clearly: The Surah stresses how crucial it is to have clear proof for Allah’s message. It talks about both the People of the Book (think Jews and Christians) and the people of Arabia who worshipped many gods. Even though they had prophets and scriptures as evidence, they still turned away from the truth.
One Allah, One Path: This chapter cuts to the core of Islam’s message: there’s only one God (Allah), and worshipping Him sincerely is key. It emphasizes the importance of prayer, giving charity (zakah), and living a good life.
Disagreements After Seeing the Light: Interestingly, the Surah highlights how even with clear proof, people can choose not to believe. It’s a reminder that receiving a message doesn’t guarantee everyone will accept it.
What Comes Next: The Surah mentions the ultimate outcome for those who believe and those who don’t. While it doesn’t go into specifics, it’s clear – following the right path leads to something good while turning away leads to something not so good.
In a nutshell, Surah Al-Bayyinah is all about the importance of having clear evidence for faith, the core message of worshipping one Allah, and what happens after you make your choice – believing or not.
